This time of year is incredibly busy for me with numerous ridiculously early call times so my most favourite pass time these past couple of months has been pampering myself. Early call times call for an early night and theres no better way to survive such traumatic circumstances than to pamper yourself!
We all deserve a bit of me time from time to time and of course, a spa day or even just a treatment would be the ideal situation but you can also pamper yourself at home. Below is my pamper routine, if you can’t follow the entire thing, pick a couple of the steps but it is important to stop once in a while, take a deep breath and pamper yourself…
I start by lighting a candle as a pick-me-up and to relax myself a little. I am obsessed with pretty candles that smell beautiful. My current favourites are Ted Baker Residence Candles in New York and Orla Kiely Scented Candles in Lavender. New York is a warm, comforting, all enveloping fragrance while Lavender is a beautifully aromatic, earthy, relaxing fragrance. Both help me unwind, transport me to a blissful place and immediately lift my mood.
The next step if you’re going to pamper yourself, has to be a face mask; I have only used face masks in the last couple of years and its slowly becoming an obsession! I have tried a few different ones but my current favourite are the Sephora ones; so incredibly reasonable and very effective. They are available worldwide in Sephora stores and on their website for delivery to the UK. The condition of my skin determines which one I use but i tend to use either the green Mattifying and Anti-Blemish Green Tea Mask or the pale pink Perfecting and Brightening Pearl Mask.
Along with my mask, I like to apply a thick layer of lip balm and my absolute saviour for dehydrated lips at the moment is Lip Glam- it is 100% natural, super nourishing and keeps lips moisturised for hours on end(upto 8 hours).
While my mask is on, I like to do some maintenance on my hands. Although I get regular manicures, sometimes my hands need a bit of attention in-between appointments. I start by removing any nail polish and giving my hands a good scrub with Crabtree & Evelyn’s Hand Recovery- an exfoliating and deeply conditioning hand treatment. I take care to concentrate on my cuticles too to rid of any cuticle build up between manicures; it leaves my cuticles nice and clean and my hands feeling incredibly soft and supple. I finish off with a layer of Crabtree & Evelyn’s Hand Therapy to maintain the softness and further nourish my hands with the shea butter rich cream.
I usually get OPI Gel polish painted onto my nails but have been going through a bit of a ‘DIY Nail Polish’ phase. I guess I want to make use of the tonnes of nail polishes I have collected over the years but also try out all the new formulas and report back to you lovelies. One formula I have been super impressed with recently is Barry M’s New Sunset Daylight Curing range- it uses natural daylight to cure the polish to create high gloss, long lasting nails. It lasts perfectly for a week but was wearable for a couple more days with minimal chips. The finish is really glossy and feels very similar to gel polish on the nails but is removable with your usual nail polish remover. There are 7 colours in the range at the moment with more coming soon, but they really are such amazing value for the price.
I try to religiously stick to this routine once a week but do it a minimum of every two weeks and I have to admit to one more thing, my pamper routine usually comes with a side of CSI- I am OBSESSED! One episode is usually enough to get all of the above done 🙂 What would you watch while you pamper yourself? Tweet me!
