A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Launch of Rosie Fortescue ’s (From Made in Chelsea)Nail Polish Range; Nailed London at the Crimson Bar in Soho Hotel, London. The event was every bit as fashionable, cool and sexy as the range; drinks were plentiful, canapés included cupcakes and mini manis using the range were in session for us all while we waited to speak to Rosie. The perfect combination and a great introduction to a very exciting, revolutionary range.
Known for being one of the original and central characters in BAFTA winning show, Made in Chelsea, Rosie Fortescue has established herself as a stylish trendsetter. Combining her love for fashion and passion for polish, she has created this revolutionary nail range, which comes in 28 shades and uses a gel-like lacquer system to deliver a long lasting manicure you can do yourself.
Rosie wore the shade Berry Sexy to the launch and told me how obsessed she is with nails and polishes. She explained how therapeutic she finds painting her nails and how she changes her nail polish at least twice a week! Rosie also told me she always looks at peoples hands first when she meets them (thankfully mine were nicely manicured as usual!) and thus her obsession with nails which lead to this launch. It was clear to see how consumed Rosie is with hands, nails and most importantly polishes and it shows throughout the range. She handpicked every aspect of the products herself, from the feel and weight of the bottle to the shape and size of the brush. Each colour in the collection was born out of some aspect of or inspiration in Rosie’s life and the names of the shades reflect this; for instance Noodle is Rosie’s dog! According to Rosie and I must say I agree, the perfect manicure has a high shine finish and Rosie Fortescue has made certain this range delivers that!

Nailed London and Rosie have fused together fashion forward nail shades and a patented revolutionary 3-step system, developed to closely match the look, feel, wear and shine of a professional gel polish. Long wear and high level of shine- all possible without the hassle and damage of a UV-cured in salon gel manicure.
The three steps are as simple as: 1.The base coat which protects and brightens the nails and acts like a binding layer for the lacquer. 2. Lacquer with ingredients like volcanic glass and shellac strengthen and protect the nail. High pigmentation means just one coat is required to achieve a good, even coat of colour. 3. Finally, the glossy topcoat delivers luminosity and durability to the lacquer.
Having tried and tested the range, I have to give credit where its due. The range not only looks fantastic but does everything they said it would. I managed a great paint job on my first try of the range and although I would like to credit just my fabulous nail painting skills, the well designed brush made light work of it. The brush spreads just enough to cover my nail bed and the end gives a perfectly clean rounded edge by the cuticle. The lacquer was so well pigmented that one coat would have been plenty but I did apply two coats out of habit. The finish was perfectly glossy and the feel of it was unbelievably close to a professional gel manicure. The polish lasted 8 days without a single chip and I was not in the least bit careful with it(I use my nails as a cellophane opening tool all the time on all those new beauty products *hangs head in shame*). I’m pretty sure had I painted just one coat of the lacquer, it would have lasted at least another couple of days but to be honest, I was ready to change colours by then anyway(I was wearing Dirty Blonde).
I love the variety of colours (and have many on my list especially the glitter effect polishes), and Rosie Fortescue certainly has made sure there is something for everyone and every occasion. I will post my favourite colours from the range on my Instagram (https://instagram.com/fabublush) so keep an eye out for those. FYI, Rosie’s favourites are Noodle Nude, Thigh High Club, Liquid Lunch and Rosie’s Red. At £7 a bottle, they are reasonable enough to be experimental with but also great value for such a quality product. They have just launched and are available at Harvey Nichols Nationwide but also on http://www.feelunique.com/nails
I am certainly a convert from salon gel nails to DIY gel polishes; it gives me more flexibility with colours, its less damaging to my hands and nails and it is cheaper! Try it yourself, you won’t regret it!
