There is nothing like taking out some time for yourself for a good old spa day/break, and I am always on the lookout for the best spa hotels in the UK and abroad. Spa days and breaks are one of my all time favourite things to do and be it just a spa day or a full spa break, it never fails to completely relax me. I have shared what I believe to be one of the Best Spa Hotels in the UK /London with you guys before but this time I ventured a bit further out and had to share this one with you lovelies too!
Dormy House Hotel is a 17th Century Farmhouse in the Cotswolds which was converted into one of the best spa hotels in the UK 35 years ago. The boutique hotel features 38 en-suite rooms, each with its own charm and personality. The hotel blends classic country charm with contemporary style making it elegantly informal and giving the whole hotel a very homely feel.
I was there for 2 nights and unbelievably I have zero complaints- our welcome was very warm and included a personal note from the general manager. The staff were always on hand to help us, they even had blankets for us when we had forgotten ours for a picnic but managed to be ever available without ever being intrusive. The housekeeping staff knew when we had left our room and cleaned it then without repeatedly disturbing us and a turndown service in the evening is always a nice touch.
So many parts of the hotel are beautiful and the attention to detail is fantastic which is what makes it one of the best spa hotels in the UK. The garden room (where we had breakfast on both days and dinner one evening) faces out onto a lovely garden which bathes the room with natural light during the day and a soft glow in the evenings. The food was amazing and the service totally faultless. The spa is a sight to behold- from the 16m heated indoor infinity pool, to the outdoor hydrotherapy pool, to the thermal suite which includes a Lavender Infusion Sauna and a Hot Juniper Finnish Cabin plus more, you will be blown away. I feel like I don’t have the words to tell you how unbelievable it is but a trip to one of the best spa hotels in the UK is definitely an experience worth having!
I had also pre booked a massage- I can NOT go to a spa and not have a massage- it would make absolutely no sense to me! I would reccomend pre booking as even when booking a few weeks in advance, there was limited availability. The standard of the treatments lives up to expectations at such a luxurious spa which has repeatedly been hailed one of the best spa hotels in the UK and again their attention to detail is fantastic; the massage was amazing but the drink and sorbet they served us straight after was the cherry on top. The Greenhouse is another beautiful room in the spa which has tonnes of natural light and plenty of space to relax in-between treatments or even just grab a bite or drink. They even have a Veuve Clicquot Champagne Nail Bar…do I need to explain how fabulous that is?! The entire spa is incredibly well designed and every small need has been thought of which puts you at ease and relaxes you even more.
I would recommend a couple of nights stay minimum so you can really experience the whole hotel as its meant to be and especially if you’ve driven a distance ( 2.5hours from London) to get there, one night just wouldn’t be enough! Theres never a need to leave the hotel but there is plenty to do if you aren’t that much of a spa person(I could live in one!). The lovely staff can organise anything from a picnic to horse riding for you and of course there are always the pretty villages of the cotswolds to look around.
Thank you Dormy House for such a lovely stay; without a doubt, one of the best spa hotels in the UK and I cannot wait to book myself in again!
