I’ve never been a huge fan of makeup primers- especially not for daily use. The overly silicone-like feel most of them leave on the skin can be particularly uncomfortable on dry/dehydrated skin. I avoided using primers on my skin unless it was a special occasion or I knew I was going to be photographed. Theres no denying the miracles some of the good primers can work in photographs- no pain(or should I say discomfort?), no gain. However since the launch of Dermalogica HydraBlur in February, my stance on primers has changed altogether.
Key ingredients deliver great skincare benefits and systems which allow dehydrated/dry skin to stay consistently moisturised throughout the day while maintaining a matte appearance. H2ORelease™ Complex of sodium hyaluronate, algin and trehalose optimises hydration levels to maintain skin flexibility, smoothness and help provide sustained, intense moisturisation throughout the day. Abyssinian Seed Oil smooths skin texture and tone by creating a non-occlusive film which helps maintain critical moisture balance, without clogging pores. Mushroom extract reduces pore visibility and size and Wu-Zhu-Yu (evodia rutaecarpa) fruit extract enhances skin radiance by boosting microcirculation.
Dermalogica HydraBlur is the most comfortable primer I have ever worn on my skin and it’s added skincare benefits certainly don’t compromise its performance as a primer. My makeup lasts just as long as with every other great primer on the market with the added benefit of it being comfortable and good for my skin. The blurring and smoothing effect of the primer on the skin is immediate which sometimes leads me to wear it alone. It leaves my skin silky smooth, hydrated, luminous and blurred to look naturally flawless. Who could’t do with some real life photoshopping??
