Cannes is the place to be over the summer and it seems so in particular this year; even the cast of Made In Chelsea were seen relaxing and partying their summers away in the beautiful city. Located on the French Riviera, it is most famous for the Cannes Film Festival it hosts annually and all the glitz and glamour it leaves behind in its wake.
Though I have visited the French Riviera before(Nice & Monaco), this was my first trip to Cannes and if you follow me on any channel, you’ll know Cannes is just my kind of place. You won’t find me camping my way through some forest or backpacking my way up mountains any time soon. Some time on a sun lounger, good food and a glass(or few) of wine are all this girl needs.
You have to land into Nice Airport and from there its half an hour by taxi but public transport is also an option. My friend (a Leo) insisted there was no other way to arrive in Cannes than a helicopter so it took us 7 minutes but that was a treat and a half!
I fell in love with Cannes from the moment we landed, it is quaint but luxurious and the vibe of the city is unbelievable. Everyone we met was super friendly and being a Londoner really makes you appreciate the slower pace of life. The main street in Cannes is La Croisette which stretches along the shore of the Mediterranean. It is also home to every fashion designer boutique you could dream of and some fabulous restaurants and hotels. The beach is right across the road which just makes perfect sense in my world! I stayed on La Croisette so I woke to the most beautiful view of the beach and sea every morning- my version of heaven. Rue d’Antibes is also really popular for shopping and has far more accessible brands available than La Croisette.
The Festival Pyrotechnique de Cannes was on while I was there which I watched from the balcony of the JW Marriott on La Croisette one evening. The view, the food, the fireworks and the ambience were all unbelievable- in fact, one of the best experiences of my life. The nightlife in Cannes is amazing, even just a walk along La Croisette is an experience because of the energy of the city but there are a number of clubs and bars to choose from. Baoli is known to be the hottest spot in town which is a Restaurant, Lounge and Club. It gets super busy and crowded but is a lot of fun thanks to a great DJ and crowd.
I can’t finish this post without sharing something from my beauty routine on this trip and there was one product I was obsessed with! My absolute must have during this trip and now for any future holiday is Clarins Sun Care Radiant Oil Spray High Protection UVB/UVA 30. It is a dry oil with high protection which is super easy and multi purpose. I am big on skin protection whilst being out in the sun, I don’t want to risk skin cancer or premature ageing so I take precautions on body and face(I used Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Cream For Face High Protection UVB/UVA 30). This spray however, can also be used on the hair which has always been a worry of mine. To top it off, it has tan enhancing properties which work wonders! I have some fashion posts coming in the next couple of days which were taken just after my trip, you guys will be able to see its effect in the pics 🙂
