This week sees the launch of Aveda Tulasara Skin Care: advanced science; Ayurvedic wisdom; balanced beauty. Tulasara is Sanskrit for ‘moving toward balance’. According to Ayurveda, we are all compromised of five elements: infinity, air, fire, water and earth- and moving toward a balance between these elements is key in achieving an optimum state of well being.
Moments of stress, lack of sleep and fatigue from everyday life, takes a toll on the mind, body and skin, and the desire to live a more balanced lifestyle has never been greater. Tulasara is an experiential skincare collection inspired by Ayurveda and the Ayurvedic approach to healthy, balanced and radiant looking skin.
‘Balanced skin is the absence of negatives; it is free of stress, and looks healthy and beautiful’ Drs. Vinod & Kusum Upadhay, Ayurvedic Experts.
The Aveda Tulasara range is based around their unique Awakening Ritual which consists of facial dry brushing, followed by facial massage using the Tulasara Radiant Oleation Oil, finishing with one of the targeted Tulasara concentrates. Each step contributes to the awakening and balance of the skin whilst helping to centre the mind and body.
I was invited to the Aveda head office last week to experience the ritual for myself and left with all the knowledge and tools needed to continue the ritual at home. The Tulasara Radiant Facial Dry Brush is the first step and my favourite of all; it is unlike anything I’ve felt before and the effect is unbelievable. The Tulasara Radiant Oleation Oil is designed to be massaged into the skin after facial dry brushing to help nourish and reveal the skins natural glow. It is a 100% naturally derived blend of six plant oils and has the perfect amount of slip for effortless facial massage to help encourage micro circulation. The finishing step is one of the there targeted Tulasara Concentrates; available in Firm, Bright and Calm. Each contains certified organic ginger extract, a traditional Ayurvedic antioxidant ingredient to help protect the skin. With continued use, each concentrate strengthens the skins natural moisture barrier, whilst helping to centre the mind and body with an expertly- crafted Tulasara Aroma infusion.
I thoroughly enjoyed the ritual at the Aveda head offices last week and have enjoyed doing it at home since. The facial dry brushing seemed a bit scary at first but the brush is super soft while being just firm enough to gently lift and sweep away dull cells for instant exfoliation. It’s made my skin smoother, softer and more radiant in just one week. I’ve always been a firm believer in facial massage but have never done it with an oil since my skin doesn’t like oils very much. However the Tulasara Radiant Oleation Oil is designed to be removed 4 minutes after application which works perfectly for my skin! It’s enough time for it to nourish and benefit my skin without me having to keep it on. I opted for the firm concentrate since I was worried about some fine lines and it does exactly what it says on the tin. My skin has been firmer and more lifted with a much smoother appearance.
I would highly recommend the range because of its unique and well thought out ritual. It takes me no longer than 8 minutes and is not only great for my skin but a great way to unwind and relax after a stressful day! Incase you guys are unsure, here are some tips on how to use the Facial Dry Brush and how to massage your face using the Radiant Oleation Oil:
Use the brush on clean, dry skin and always start at the centre of the décolleté and move in gentle, circular motions anti-clockwise, gradually working up the neck and onto the face, gently sweeping away dull cells. One side at a time, sweep across the eye area from the inner to the outer corners, before sweeping the brush in downward motions from the sides of the face to the collarbone to help encourage lymph drainage.
One of the key benefits of the Radiant Oleation Oil, is the restoration of radiance and nourishment to the skin. For best results, massage into the skin using the same motions and directions as the dry brushing to encourage micro circulation, and then leave on for at least four minutes before cleansing the face.
