Why you should be using Sheet Masks…

Processed with VSCO with hb1 presetLast week, I wrote all about masks, my current obsession with them and which ones I use when. It didn’t make sense to include sheet masks in the same post; they are a whole entity of their own! Koreans know a thing or two about skincare and the rest of us have only just noticed in recent years. We have become obsessed with their skincare regimes and one aspect of it that has taken the beauty world by storm are sheet masks.

The clingy nature of the sheet used for the masks encourage the product to be pushed deep into the skin where it’s needed the most. Results are immediate and long lasting- similar to a facial where products are massaged into the skin to encourage absorption. Most stay on 15-30 minutes and there is no need to rinse afterwards, just massage all the goodness left over into your skin!

Countless celebrities have admitted to using sheet masks over social media which has only helped the trend go from strength to strength. The ease of application, hygiene factor, portability and affordability make them appealing to anyone and everyone. So many brands have added sheet masks to their range, below are a few of my favourites.

When use natural bio-cellulose sheet that is super gentle on the skin, their masks are also completely free from paragons, sulphates and phthalates. They have 5 different masks, all of which have hyaluronic acid and ginseng extract to aid hydration and encourage skin health. My 2 favourites are pictured above; 10pm which has collagen to help ward off lines and wrinkles and watermelon to help skin regenerate itself while you sleep. Makeup Base is unique in that it is a sheet mask which primes your skin for makeup; no flaky skin or enlarged pores, just a smooth, firm base for makeup.

Sephora sheet masks are great value and there are plenty to choose from. I have tried a few from the range but the one that stood out for me the most was the Green Tea version. It mattifies and purifies to soothe skin, minimize shine, and reduce the appearance of outbreaks. I use it once every 4-6 weeks when my skin is problematic and it is amazing at making my skin feel rebalanced.

Garnier moisture bomb tissue mask is the cheapest of the lot and full of nutrients for dehydrated skin- therefore right up my street. It is super revitalising, it instantly rehydrates and plumps the skin to reveal a more radiant complexion. I use this whenever I feel like my skin needs a boost of hydration because of its hyaluronic acid content and it is said to have the same effect as applying the serum for a week.

Estee Lauder advanced night repair concentrated recovery power foil mask is my go to for special occasions and big events. I am already a big fan of the serum and somehow the mask managed to trump even that(didn’t think it was possible!). Just like the serum, it rejuvenates skin and leaves behind an incredibly desirable natural glow. Estee Lauder took it one step further however by backing their masks with foil, enhancing penetration by up to 25 times! They are the most expensive on my list but totally worth the price tag, you need to try it to believe it!
