My Jewellery Rules…

My Jewellery Rules…

I am not really much of a jewellery person. It’s not that I don’t like jewellery, I just have a set of jewellery rules that I always stick to. I have created these jewellery rules over many years after plenty of faux-pas. My fail safe formula means that I don’t ever feel over-accessorised or anything less than chic.

My interpretation of chic is understated so I always try and keep my jewellery minimal. These are a couple of very simple rules which help me keep my jewellery understated at all times:

  1. Statement jewellery should be worn one piece at a time.
  2. Everyday jewellery should be delicate and dainty.
  3. No more than 3 of the same piece of jewellery should be worn at a time (3 rings/ 3 necklaces)
  4. Jewellery should be classic and look expensive.
  5. Natural materials are preferable (metals, gems, pearls, stone, crystals etc i.e no plastic jewellery!)

These jewellery rules are my personal preference and suit my personality. Don’t be afraid to experiment and find your own style to suit your personality. There are some amazing brands that fit my jewellery rules and suit my personality perfectly. The 4 in particular that I am obsessed with at the moment and think you guys should check out are…

Under The Rose

They were kind enough to send me a Rose Gold Scalloped Bangle just before my trip to Mykonos last month. It’s such a gorgeous piece and I’ve worn it almost everyday since. It goes perfectly with my Astrid & Miyu Rose Gold jewellery but is also great for stacking with other bracelets (maximum of 3). The Pave Diamond Evil Eye Necklace is next on my list but I am also totally obsessed with their range of Personalised Jewellery. I love love LOVE the idea of jewellery with sentimental value and have a lot of it myself. There is something for everyone- including the men in your life who are notoriously difficult to buy for.

Astrid & Miyu

I was invited to the launch of their first store on St Christophers Place, London W1 a couple of months ago and have been obsessed with a couple of pieces I ordered since. I have the Hexagon Stud Earrings in Rose Gold and the Gemini Zodiac Ring in Rose Gold. Both are super versatile and have been worn to death in the past couple of months. They have attracted many compliments and have me hooked- you’ll be seeing my collection of their jewellery increase very soon!

Hurley Burley

I fell in love with the Sterling Silver Constellation Earrings as soon as I saw them. I don’t own anything like them so was chuffed when I received them. They were a lovely accent when worn with bikinis in Mykonos but I also wore them to a formal dinner. They’re beautifully dainty and detailed but still what I would consider a statement piece so incredibly versatile. The brand is surprisingly reasonably priced considering their jewellery is sterling silver. They also have a really pretty range of bags and accessories that can be personalised thats worth checking out. Hurley Burley have been kind enough to give me a discount code for you lovelies so you can get 10% off your order. Just quote PREETI10 at the checkout!

Stella & Dot

I had heard of Stella & Dot before but never real got around to checking out their range until a friend of mine became a stylist for them. I ordered the Simple Knot Cuff in Gold from her and love it! The service and quality are both fantastic and I have my eye on a few other pieces now. Although I don’t often wear statement jewellery, I think it’s a lovely way to construct a look and Stella & Dot do statement jewellery especially well. I love to pick a statement necklace/earrings and wear muted clothes (plain/monotone) to let the piece take centre stage. I would never wear more than one statement piece at a time because of my rules but that’s just me.
